The Oregon Trail is a computer game originally developed by Don Rawitsch, Bill Heinemann, and Paul Dillenberger in 1971 and produced by the Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium (MECC) in 1974. The original game was designed to teach school children about the realities of 19th century pioneer life on the Oregon Trail. The Oregon Trail - Play Online DOS - 1990 For small DOS games like The Oregon Trail, you can play online immediately with your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer.). This feature is still experimental, the game may not work properly. Oregon Trail, the nostalgic early computer game in which players go on a virtual version of the trek early settlers made (and face all the old-timey challenges they would have encountered), is back.
Using life-size displays, films and live theater presentations, this Center tells the story of Oregon Trail pioneers, explorers, miners and settlers of the frontier west. The 500 acre site includes remnants of the historic Flagstaff Gold Mine, actual ruts carved by pioneer wagons, and magnificent vistas of the historic trail route.

The Center is currently closed in accordance with the Oregon governor’s “freeze” to slow the spread of COVID-19.
The outdoor wagon encampment, trails and access to the historic ruts are open daily.
While visiting, we strongly encourage all visitors to make smart decisions and follow CDC public health guidance to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. These measures include:
- Practice social distancing by maintaining 6 feet of space between you and others using this site.
- Wear cloth face coverings where social distancing is difficult (except for those who are under age 2 or have trouble breathing).
- Wash your hands often. While you’re outdoors, use hand sanitizers.
- Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
- Most importantly, please stay home if you don’t feel well.

Also, be careful to select the right game executable in the list below.
Emulator configuration
You have to choose the right game executable, then press PLAY.
To exit fullscreen mode, press escape. Playing experience can be poor due to your browser or your computer. Download The Oregon Trail and launch it with DOSBox to have the best playing experience!
If the game is too fast or too slow, try hitting CTRL-F11 (slower) and CTRL-F12 (faster).
