Yevgeniy Timoshenko Birthplace
Yevgeniy Timoshenko was born in 1988 in Kharkiv, Ukraine, but he moved with his family to Mukilteo, Washington, at the age of ten and continues to reside in the Seattle area. He was first exposed to poker in 2003 during his high school years, and it was Chris Moneymaker’s win at that year’s World Series of Poker that spurred him to learn more about the game. He first played low-stakes games with friends but moved to online poker. Through points and freerolls on the free site, he earned his way into real money games. Timoshenko moved up in limits and began to specialize in tournaments online and took his skills to live tournaments before he was 21-years old, traveling to locations where the legal age was 18. In April of 2007, he won a tournament at the Paddy Power Irish Open in Dublin, then final tabled events like Rendezvous a Paris, Paris Open, and Aussie Millions. In 2008, he won the Main Event of the Asian Poker Tour in Macau for $500,000, and that same year finished in second place at a European Poker Tour Barcelona event and third at the World Series of Poker in a NLHE event. His biggest win, however, came in 2009 at the World Poker Tour World Championship, where he won the Main Event for $2,149,960. Since then, Timoshenko has final tabled numerous events and cashed several times at the WSOP, but he continues to play online. In 2009, he won the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) on PokerStars, and his Main Event victory brought him $1,715,200 in cash.
Although Yevgeniy Timoshenko was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, he moved to Washington State when he was 8 years old, and currently resides in Seattle. He has gained a fearsome reputation in the poker.
